Commodore Khandokar Akhter Hossain, (E), NUP, ndc, psc, PhD, BN has joined in Bangladesh Navy (BN) as cadet in 1988 and got commission in engineering branch. He did his B Sc and M Sc Engineering in naval architecture and marine engineering with distinct result from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He has completed psc & ndc from DSCSC and National Defence College, Mirpure respectively. He also did ISMC from USA. He has also achieved PhD degree from BUET. He served as engineer officer onboard different ships including five modern frigates/corvettes (BNS Bangabondhu, BNS Omar Farooq, BNS Ali Haider, BNS Shadhinota, etc) and as instructor in Naval Academy, Marine Academy, NIT and MIST. He has contributed in UN peace-keeping mission in Sudan. He has also performed as Head of NAME Dept in MIST and as Director/Deputy Director in Naval Headquarters. He has served as DGM (Shipbuilding), GM (Production) and GM (planning and marketing) in Khulna Shipyard, Narayangonj Dockyard and Chittagong Dry-dock Ltd respectively. He has contributed in design and construction in state of art missile corvette project built in China as pioneer project engineer and chief naval architect (Shadhinota Class Missile Corvettes). He has worked very successfully in Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) as member engineering. He also successfully worked as Managing Director in DEW Ltd and makes it a profitable shipbuilding industry during COVID-19 pandemic situation. He has also served as Managing Director in Khulna Shipyard Ltd and contributes remarkably. He is lifetime fellow of Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB), Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA), UK and International Association of Marine Shipping Professionals (IAMSP), USA. Presently he is working as Commodore Superintendent Dockyard (CSD) of BN Dockyard at Chattogram. He is happily married with Dr Sharmin Hasan and blessed with twin daughters and two sons.
