Commodore Md Ruhul Minhaz joined Bangladesh Navy on 01 January 1990 and was commissioned on 01 July 1992. He has graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) with a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He has been serving as Commodore Superintendent Dockyard since 3 September 2024.
Commodore Minhaz has undertaken numerous professional and staff courses, both at home and abroad. Notable among these are the Electrical Specialization Course at BNS SM (2004-2005), the Navy Missile Maintenance Course in China (2002-2003), Gunnery Fire Control Simulator Course (2102), the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Course (2014). He is also a proud graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur (2005-2006) and National Defence Course at NDC, Mirpur (2022). The Commodore holds a Master's in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from BUET (2009-2010).
A model of dedication, leadership, and unwavering professionalism, Commodore Minhaz has served in various high-profile roles across a wide array of naval institutions, including BN ships, Navy Headquarters Directorate, training establishments, and service universities. His tenure as a military observer under UN Blue Helmets in Sudan (2010-2011) underscores his commitment to fostering international peace and cooperation. Additionally, his service at BN Dockyard has seen him hold pivotal positions such as Deputy General Manager (W&E), General Manager (P&E), and Director CNRD. Renowned for his exceptional work ethic and forward-thinking approach, Commodore Minhaz has been instrumental in advancing naval operations and capacity building. Prior taking over his duties as CSD, he was appointed as Director DNW&EE in Naval Headquarters. In recognition of his exemplary service, Commodore Minhaz has been awarded the prestigious Oshamanno Sheba Padak (OSP) and Chief of Naval Staff Commendation. His numerous achievements stand as a testament to his enduring commitment to the nation and serve as an inspiration to his peers.
A seasoned traveler, the Commodore has visited different countries across Asia, Europe and Africa reflecting his broad global outlook and commitment to continuous learning. In his personal life, Commodore Minhaz is characterized by humility, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for technical research and innovation. He finds joy in reading and writing, and his reflective and thoughtful demeanor continues to inspire those around him. He is happily married and blessed with one son and two daughters.
