The Commodore Superintendent Dockyard hosted a thought-provoking seminar on the progressive portfolio of the Centre for Naval Research and Development (CNRD) on 10-11 July 2024, at the Area Multipurpose Hall, BNS ISSA KHAN, Chattogram. The event, titled "Transformation of CNRD for a Smart Navy: Charting the Course through Industry-Academia Collaboration", highlighted the potential of CNRD's partnerships with industry and academia in building a Smart Navy.
Rear Admiral Khondkar Misbah-ul-Azim, Commander of the Chattogram Naval Area, honoured the seminar as the chief guest. The two-day event saw the participation of numerous military professionals, industry experts, and distinguished scholars who engaged in keynote speeches, panel discussions, and invited talks. 09 Scholars from 05 renowned universities, 06 industry experts from 06 industries, 05 army officers headed by Col Khalid Mahmud (MIST) and 14 Air Force officers headed by AOC, BAF Base ZHR, AVM Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan were present in the Seminar.
The seminar vividly showcased the R&D and innovation works of CNRD including its important and critical achievements. The seminar emphasised the importance of integrating smart technologies, such as AI and IOT into naval system. Panel discussions explored synergies between industry, academia, and defence sectors, sharing best practices and insights for future collaborations.
The event concluded with a display of CNRD's projects, demonstrating innovative research and technological advancements benefiting Bangladesh Navy. Attendees left with renewed enthusiasm for advancing maritime security capabilities of BN and fostering self-reliance through collaborative efforts.
