Under the supervision of the Commodore Superintendent Dockyard (CSD), IFF Centre organized a seminar titled "ADVANCING INDIGENŌUS DEVELOPMENT OF THE INTEROPERABLE IFF SYSTEM: EVALUATION, STRATEGIC INTEGRATION AND FUTURE READINESS" on 27 February 2025 at Area Multipurpose Hall, BNS ISSA KHAN. The seminar aimed to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of using interoperable IFF systems across platforms of Bangladesh Armed Forces during war and peacetime with a focus to outline future strategies to develop indigenous interoperable IFF systems for the Armed Forces with Bangladesh Navy in lead role.
The Principal Staff Officer, Armed Forces Division, Lieutenant General S M Kamrul Hasan, BSP, ndc, hdmc, psc, PhD, attended the seminar as the Chief Guest. Additionally, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Material), Commander of Chattogram Naval Area, the Commandant of Naval Training and Doctrine Command (NATDOC), DG (Head of Business Division), Sena Kallyan Shangstha, officers from various levels of the tri-services, Higher officials from CETC, China and representatives from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) attended in the seminar.
In the seminar, the esteemed speakers highlighted the importance and necessity of using an interoperable IFF system in the Armed Forces. They also discussed various aspects of developing and implementing the IFF system using indigenous technology and emphasized the need to enhance self-reliance in the overall production of military equipment.
At the end of the seminar, the Principal Staff Officer and senior officials of the three services visited the IFF Centre to observe various activities and current capabilities. During the visit, the Chief Guest expressed satisfaction with the IFF Centre's capabilities and role in developing an indigenous interoperable IFF system to achieve self-reliance for the Armed Forces. He also provided valuable guidance to continue the ongoing initiatives.
